Currently Studying: Describe incidents that advance the story or novel, explaining how each incident gives ride to or foreshadows future events Structured Independent Reading (SIR): During structured independent reading time your child is either reading or in conference with teacher working on reading strategies. Current strategy of the week: Context clues During S.I.R. this week: Currently in class your child is reading and completing a character log independently using the characterization chart. This is a great way to monitor comprehension of what is read while understanding how to determine traits a character in their book exhibits. |

Foreshadowing in literature is hints given by the author of what will happen later. Analyze picture: Here is an example of foreshadowing Be prepared to discuss in class \Simba, let me tell you something my father told me. Look at the stars. The great kings of the past look down on us from those stars. So whenever you feel alone, just remember that those kings will always be there to guide you. And so will I. Meaning: In the film, The Lion King, Mufasa foretells/foreshadows his own fate. That one day he too will die and live among the stars alongside the great kings before him. 4.) Istation: Assignment Drawing conclusions Language Arts Weekly Homework Every night (Monday-Thursday) your student is required to read for 20 minutes and fill out their choice board. I have attached a blank choice board in case your child ever happens to misplace theirs (and so parents know what to look for)..
